Avina is the Citadel VI, first encountered by Commander Shepard near the Embassies on the Presidium. Like all VIs she appears as a hologram: Avina takes the form of an asari. She has several terminals around the Presidium, often near points of interest such as theRelay Monument or the Krogan Monument, and can answer any questions Shepard might have, giving guidance and a brief insight into galactic events.
Careena is an asari concierge on Illium.
EDI (pronounced ‘Eee-Dee’ [ˈiː.diː]), which stands for Enhanced Defense Intelligence, is the AI of the Normandy SR-2 and is represented by a holographic floating blue sphere at various terminals throughout the ship where she can provide basic information about the Normandy andCerberus.
Feron is a drell information trafficker who is first introduced in Issue #1 of the Mass Effect: Redemption comic book series.
Garrus Vakarian is a turian, formerly with C-Sec’s Investigation Division. Like most turians, Garrus had military training at fifteen, but later followed in his father’s footsteps to become a C-Sec officer. He was responsible for the investigation of Saren Arterius, the Council’s top Spectre, after the Alliance claimed Saren had gone rogue. Though Garrus was told the investigation was over, he decided to defy the Executor’s order and pursue another lead on his own. Eventually, Garrus joined Shepard’s team, to help the Commander defeat Saren and the geth.
Grunt is a genetically engineered krogan super soldier. Bred and educated in a tank, he was intended to exemplify the best traits of the krogan, and help reinvigorate his species. In the meantime, he fights along Commander Shepard to satisfy his natural desire for violence.
Jack, also known as “Subject Zero”, is a notorious criminal whose crimes include piracy, kidnapping, vandalism and murder. She is also a biotic, possibly one of the most powerful human biotics alive, and considered so dangerous she was kept in stasis after she was caught. She is a potential romance interest for a male Shepard.
Jacob Taylor is a human biotic, the main protagonist of Mass Effect Galaxy and a squad member in Mass Effect 2. A former Alliance Marine under the command of Major Derek Izunami, he resigned after surviving the geth attack on Eden Prime.
Jeff “Joker” Moreau
Flight Lieutenant Jeff “Joker” Moreau is the pilot of the SSV Normandy. Joker is an excellent pilot and confident to the point of arrogance, wasting no time in pointing out his prowess to others. He’s quick to ensure everyone knows his many accomplishments and commendations were all earned, and not due to charity for his medical problems.
Kelly Chambers appears in Mass Effect 2, and she is Shepard’s Yeoman on the Normandy SR-2. Her primary job on the Normandy is to keep Commander Shepard abreast of new e-mails and pass on meeting requests from Shepard’s squad mates. In addition, Kelly provides counselor support and monitors the psychological state of Shepard and the crew, offering input on mission outcomes and impressions on Shepard’s team. Her abilities as a counselor and her impressions are influenced by her education where Kelly graduated with a psychology degree. In the Cerberusorganization, she is identified as a member of the Lazarus Cell.
Khalisah Bint Sinan al-Jilani is a human Westerlund News reporter. She appears at the C-Sec Academy on the Citadel, asking Commander Shepard for an interview as part of the Citadel: The Fourth Estateassignment. If Shepard agrees to the interview, al-Jilani’s questions begin cordially, but gradually become more hostile. It soon becomes apparent that she is appealing to popular human opinion; she is critical of the Citadel Council, believing it treats humanity as a “poor relation”.
Dr. Liara T’Soni is an asari researcher who has spent the past fifty years of her life studying Prothean technology and culture, specialising in the Prothean extinction. She was born in 2077, making her “only” 106 — little more than a child in asari terms — when Mass Effect takes place. She already has a great deal of insight into the Protheans and is a highly trained user of biotics. She is a potential romance interest for either a male or female Shepard.
Miranda Lawson is a human Cerberus Officer. She is a major character in Mass Effect Galaxy and a squad member in Mass Effect 2. As Jacob Taylor’s informant, she gives him guidance and advice during missions, often via hologram. Miranda is very well traveled and has many contacts, extending from Citadel space and the Terminus Systems, to as far as the hostile Nemean Abyss. Her vast network of contacts may be explained by the fact Miranda is a known Cerberus operative, one who still has friends — or at least friends of friends — in the Alliance military.
Morinth is an asari Ardat-Yakshi, suffering from a rare asari genetic disorder which causes her to kill her mates while joining minds with them. In turn she becomes smarter, more powerful, and deadlier after each coupling. She has spent centuries as a fugitive from asari justice, surviving by her wits and cunning. Her powerful biotic abilities, and talent for dominating the minds of others, have kept her alive despite the odds.
Nyxeris is an asari on Illium who is an assistant to Liara T’Soni.
Samara is a nearly thousand-year-old asari justicar, a member of an ancient monastic order following a strict honor code. Though she is skilled with weapons, Samara usually relies on her powerful biotic abilities. Justicars rarely leave asari space, but Samara’s pursuit of justice has brought her to Illium.
Tali’Zorah nar Rayya
Tali’Zorah nar Rayya is a quarian and a member ofCommander Shepard’s squad. She is the daughter ofRael’Zorah, a member of the Admiralty Board. Though young, Tali is a mechanical genius.
Urdnot Wreav is the current leader of clan Urdnot if Wrex was slain on Virmire, and is Wrex’s Broodbrother. He is very thankful to Commander Shepard for killing his brother, as it has led to him becoming leader of the Urdnot Clan.
Zaeed Massani is a feared and respected bounty hunter and mercenary soldier. Cerberus has contracted Zaeed to assist Commander Shepard in the mission to save mankind. In exchange, Zaeed requires help to complete another mission he had accepted beforehand, which is to liberate an Eldfell-Ashland Energy refinery from Blue Suns control.
